Curodont Repair at Treeline Dental Care

Early decay? Let's sort it without the drill

In short

Curodont Repair is a quick, drill-free treatment for early tooth decay. Your dentist paints it onto the weak spot and it helps your tooth rebuild its own enamel. There’s no needle and no drilling, and it can often be done at the same visit as your check-up. It’s available now at all eight Treeline practices.

You know that moment at a check-up when your dentist leans in, has a closer look and says, “there’s something just starting there, we’ll keep an eye on it”?

Most of us nod, head home, brush a bit harder and quietly hope it sorts itself out. Sometimes it does. Plenty of times it doesn’t, and six months later that little spot has turned into a filling.

Curodont Repair gives us something better to do in that moment. Instead of waiting for decay to get worse, we can treat it there and then, while it’s still small and your tooth can still put itself right.

What Is Curodont Repair?

Curodont Repair is a treatment for early tooth decay, made by vVARDIS, a dental company based in Switzerland.

Here’s the clever bit. Early decay starts as a weak, chalky patch where your enamel has lost some of its minerals. Curodont soaks into that patch and forms a tiny 3D framework inside it, a bit like scaffolding on a building. That framework pulls in calcium and phosphate from your own saliva, and over the next few weeks new enamel builds back up where the decay was.

So nothing gets drilled away and nothing gets filled. Your tooth just gets a helping hand to repair itself.

Why “Let’s Keep an Eye on It” Isn’t Always Enough

Early decay is too small to fill. Filling it would mean drilling through healthy tooth just to reach it, which isn’t fair on the tooth. So for years, the only sensible option was to watch and wait.

The trouble is, decay doesn’t usually wait politely. Left alone, it can keep going until it breaks through the surface and becomes a cavity. Then it’s a filling, and fillings don’t last forever. A filled tooth can need a bigger filling later on, and sometimes a crown after that.

Catching decay early and treating it gently is how you stop that chain before it starts.

How Curodont Repair Works at Your Appointment

1

We spot it

At your check-up, your dentist finds an early patch of decay. It’s often a chalky white or slightly dull area you’d never notice yourself.

2

We clean the area

The tooth is gently cleaned so the treatment can soak in properly. No drill and no injection.

3

We apply Curodont

Your dentist paints it onto the spot, and it soaks into the enamel within a few minutes.

4

You get on with your day

Head back to work or school as normal. Your tooth keeps rebuilding over the following weeks, and we’ll check on it at your next visit.

Who Curodont Repair Is For

Nervous patients

If the whine of a drill is the reason you’ve been putting off the dentist, this one’s for you. Finding decay early can now mean a simpler visit, not a scarier one.

Children and teenagers

A child’s early trips to the dentist shape how they feel about it for years. Treating early decay without a drill or needle keeps those visits calm.

Braces and aligner wearers

Brackets and aligners make some spots harder to clean, and chalky white marks can appear. Curodont is used to treat these early white spot lesions.

Anyone who’d rather keep their own tooth

If you’d rather hang on to your natural tooth than swap part of it for a filling, Curodont gives you that chance, as long as we catch the decay early.

What Curodont Can and Can’t Do

We’d rather be straight with you from the start.

Curodont is great for

  • Early decay where the enamel is weak but there’s no hole yet
  • Chalky white spots, including those around braces
  • Adults and children

It isn’t the answer for

  • Decay that’s already become a cavity. A filling is still the right fix there
  • Toothache or infection, which need different treatment

That’s why regular check-ups matter so much. The sooner we spot decay, the more likely it is that Curodont is an option, and we’ll always tell you honestly which situation you’re in.

Curodont Protect: Looking After Your Enamel at Home

Your dentist might also suggest Curodont Protect. It’s a gel you use at home after brushing, and it helps strengthen your enamel and protect your teeth between visits. Think of it as backup for the work done in the chair.

What to Expect on the Day

There’s really not much to it. If your dentist spots early decay at your check-up, they’ll show you where it is, explain what Curodont does and let you know the cost. If you’re happy to go ahead, it can usually be done there and then.

You won’t need numbing and there’s nothing to recover from. Over the next few weeks your tooth gets on with rebuilding, and we’ll see how it’s doing at your next check-up.

Feeling nervous? Just tell us. We’ll talk you through everything before we start and go at whatever pace suits you.

FAQs: Curodont Repair

There’s no drilling and no injection. We clean the tooth and paint the treatment on, and that’s it.

Just a few minutes per tooth, and it can often happen at the same visit as your check-up.

No, Curodont Repair is a private treatment. Treeline provides private dental care in partnership with the NHS, so your dentist will talk you through your options and confirm the cost before anything goes ahead.

It depends on how many teeth need treating. You’ll get a clear price at your appointment before you decide anything.

Yes. It’s suitable for children as well as adults, and your dentist will check it’s right for your child first.

If decay is caught early, Curodont may mean you avoid a filling on that tooth. If it’s already become a cavity, a filling is still the best fix, and we’ll be upfront about that.

Usually you wouldn’t. Early decay rarely hurts, which is exactly why regular check-ups matter. We can spot the signs long before you’d notice anything.
